Blitz

Blitz is an eight year old Thoroughbred gelding with a degenerative condition of the right front fetlock. The short brace is his, and he is graciously modeling our knee-brace.

He has only recently been retired off the tract. He had a very painful and swollen right front fetlock that was originally diagnosed as a mechanical failure. Subsequent evaluations also revealed an infected joint due to cortisone injections. The fetlock will probably fuse and to prevent further damage while going outside, he will wear a custom made brace to support the weakened joint (short brace with cross straps).

Blitz is also modeling the full knee brace. This is designed to alleviate pressure on the knee in the event of a fracture of other traumatic injury. It has full range of motion, but the stainless steel uprights can be locked out to stiffen the leg. This brace will keep the knee supported and immobile and still allow therapy when indicated.
